These terms govern your use of hurtsquare.ca and the guides you buy from us. Buying or downloading a guide means you accept them.
What Hurt Square is
We are a publisher. We produce recovery documentation guides for people in Canada who have been injured in a motor vehicle collision or at work. Our guides help you record what happened, track your recovery and understand the process in your province.
What Hurt Square is not
This is the most important section on this page.
We are not a law firm and we do not provide legal advice. Reading our guides, buying them or contacting us does not create a solicitor and client relationship. Nothing we publish is a substitute for advice from a lawyer or paralegal licensed in your province.
We are not healthcare providers and we do not provide medical advice. Our guides do not diagnose, treat or assess any injury.
We are not insurance advisors, adjusters or advocates. We do not represent you, negotiate for you or communicate with any insurer, board or employer on your behalf.
If your situation involves a deadline, a denial or a dispute, speak to a qualified professional in your province. Our guides are built to make that conversation shorter and better informed, not to replace it.
Accuracy and corrections
Our guides describe deadlines, forms, boards and procedures as they stood when that edition was published. Every edition carries a date for exactly this reason.
Legislation changes. Regulations change. Boards reorganize and forms are renumbered. We revise our guides on a regular schedule, though there will be periods when a rule has changed and our edition has not yet caught up.
Before you rely on any date, form or procedure in one of our guides, confirm it with the board, regulator or court that governs your claim. Our guides name those authorities so you know where to look.
If you find something wrong, write to Recovery@hurtsquare.ca. We correct errors and reissue affected editions. We would rather be told than be right.
Your licence
When you buy a guide you receive a personal, non-transferable licence to use it. You may:
- Download it, print it and fill it in
- Keep it indefinitely
- Share it with the people helping you, such as a family member, your lawyer or your doctor
You may not:
- Resell it, rent it or give it away as a product of your own
- Post it publicly, upload it to a file sharing service or distribute it online
- Distribute it to clients, patients, employees or members of an organization without a licence for that purpose
- Remove our name, branding or edition markings from it
Law firms, clinics, employers and organizations that want to supply our guides to the people they serve should contact us. We licence for that use and the terms are straightforward.
What you write in the guide
The guides are documents you complete yourself, on your own device or on paper. We do not collect, receive or store anything you write in them. Your record belongs to you.
Intellectual property
The guides, the site, our branding and the Hurt Square name are our property or are used under licence. Buying a guide gives you the right to use it as described above. It transfers no ownership.
Payment and delivery
Prices are in Canadian dollars. Payment is processed by Shopify and its payment providers. Your download link is issued immediately after payment clears.
Refunds
Our refund policy forms part of these terms. In short, write to us within 30 days and we will refund you. We will swap a provincial edition bought in error at no charge and we will fix any download problem. The full policy sits alongside these terms on our site.
Limitation of liability
We provide our guides in good faith and we work hard to make them accurate. We cannot be responsible for the outcome of any claim, application, appeal or medical matter.
To the extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim arising from a guide or from this site is limited to the amount you paid us for it.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including any right you hold under the consumer protection legislation of your province or territory.
Acceptable use of the site
Do not attempt to disrupt the site, gain unauthorized access to it, scrape it at scale or use it in a way that breaks the law. We may withdraw access where any of that occurs.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. This does not remove any protection available to you under the law of the province or territory where you live.
Changes to these terms
We update these terms when our practices change. The date at the top shows the last revision. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the revised terms.
